Due to long waiting times in England for an Adult ADHD Assessment, many people based in London are now looking to book an online private ADHD Assessment instead.

However, finding a good quality private assessment amidst all the adverts online and the hype on social media can be tricky. After all, it is crucial to pick a professional who is properly qualified, trained and experienced. That’s why I want you to have complete confidence when choosing me for private testing.

A Highly Qualified ADHD Specialist

My name is Jenny Arthern and I am an HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist. I have 24 years post-qualification experience and I have been an ADHD Specialist for over 4 years.

I undertook my training in the diagnosis and assessment of adult ADHD with UKAAN (the UK Adult ADHD Network). I am also trained in delivering psychosocial support and skills development to adults with ADHD.

Private ADHD Assessments

All the assessments I deliver are in line with The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Guidelines, and follow the latest Adult ADHD Quality Assurance Standard (AQAS). You can read my blog: “What should an ADHD Assessment include” for more information about this. I offer assessments and diagnoses for people across London in a range of age groups, from teenagers (17 years+) to those in retirement.

What Happens During an Online ADHD Assessment?

I will meet with you for two and a half hours for an in-depth interview about how you were as a child and your life through adulthood. We will cover:

What it was like for you at primary and secondary school, what you liked doing and what you struggled with.
Your experience of being employed or self-employed
Your friendships and relationships
Your family life and your view of yourself and your level of self-esteem.

We will discuss your physical and mental health history, any previous diagnoses you have received, and your current psychological state.

I will also meet with whoever you choose to be involved in the assessment. This often includes a parent, friend, partner or colleague. This will help give me further information and an outside perspective on you.
You and anyone who participates in the assessment with you, will also complete some questionnaires. I will also review your school reports (if available) and any previous reports you have, which might include for example, an assessment for Autism or Dyslexia.

I produce a detailed report and we will also meet to discuss the treatment and support available. This might include: having psychotherapy, coaching for ADHD, support to engage in physical exercise, a specialist sleep assessment, or assessment for ADHD medication.

In total, there will be about 4 hours of clinical contact time. If you are not diagnosed with ADHD as a result of the assessment, we can explore the other reasons for your difficulties and I will offer recommendations for additional assessment, interventions and support as necessary. With my private ADHD assessments, you will enjoy exceptional support throughout the process.
Save Time with an Online ADHD Assessment

Travelling to a clinic location in London can be time-consuming and expensive and so there are advantages in terms of time and money to choosing an online ADHD assessment. I am not part of a big company, which means the adult ADHD Assessments I offer are both professional and personal. I have the time to adjust the assessment process to meet your individual needs. I only work with a few people at a time and so I am able to give exceptional support through all phases of your assessment.

An Experienced ADHD Specialist Serving London

London is home to people from all walks of life. My assessments are inclusive and I am experienced in working with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, different walks of life and whatever their age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, education, or national heritage.

More About My Background

Having lived and worked in Devon since 2022, I love the opportunities which living in Stoke Gabriel near Totnes and on the banks of the River Dart provides.

It is wonderful being able to walk along the river or on the South West Coast Path at lunchtime or after work!
I work with many people who were born and grew up in Devon, and others who have moved to the area more recently.

I have enjoyed getting to know Exeter and Plymouth, Dartmoor and all that the coast has to offer – on and off the water. I value the professional contacts I have gained from being part of the UK Adult ADHD Network South West, the British Psychological Society South West Branch and the South West Regional Group of the EMDR UK Association.

My Qualifications and Experience

(NICE) guidelines state that Adult ADHD Assessment and Diagnosis must be offered by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional, such as a psychologist, specialist pharmacist, specialist mental health nurse or psychiatrist, with training and expertise in the diagnosis of ADHD.

I am an HCPC Practitioner Psychologist, with a first-class degree in psychology from the University of Leeds.

I have 24 years post-qualification experience as a Chartered Psychologist and have received specialist training in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of Adult ADHD from UKAAN (The UK Adult ADHD Network).

I have attended multiple additional training and CPD events on ADHD Assessment and ADHD Diagnosis including on differentiating ADHD from other conditions which may generate similar symptoms, such as Complex Trauma, Borderline Personality Disorder and Bi-Polar Disorder.
