Amazing CBT Supervision

What is CBT Supervision?

CBT Supervision means not only the supervision of clinicians delivering CBT therapy but also supervision which uses a CBT approach.  CBT Supervision is structured and an agenda is agreed between supervisor and supervisee at the beginning of the session.

This ensures that important issues, such as those relating to risk, are prioritised and that time is given to all the topics which need to be covered.  CBT supervision also includes two-way feedback.  The supervisor will give feedback to the supervisee about their work and the supervisee will let the supervisor know which aspects of supervision they are finding helpful and which may need to be adapted.

For example, a therapist may have a very visual learning style and may need the supervisor to present a disorder-specific model in a visual format rather than by describing it conceptually.
